iPad Primer with Video Tutorials
The learning module outlined on this page is from the iPad Primer, which students download to their iPads from Apple's iBookstore. Embedded in the modules are show-me movies that illustrate the tutorials and make them interactive.
Chapter 21: Securing the iPad
After completing this chapter, you will be able to:
- Configure iPad security features that can help you keep someone unauthorized from gaining access to your data.
- Set a passcode whereby the iPad prompts you to slide an onscreen control to unlock it.
- Make the passcode a simple four-digit number, or make it a more complex password harder to guess.
- Set the iPad to erase its data after ten failed passcode attempts.
- Use the Find My iPhone app to locate your device if you lose track of your iPad, iPhone 4, or iPod Touch running iOS 4.2 or later.
- See your lost device on a map and make it display a message, play a long loud sound, lock itself, change its passcode, or permanently delete all your data that is on the device.
- Understand that in order for Find My iPhone to work, you must first install and activate Find My iPhone on the device before it gets lost.
- Know how to see the AppleID that is associated with your device.
- Understand that the device you use to find the lost one must be logged on to the same AppleID as the lost one.
