eLearning Resources

As noted in the course description, the purpose of this course is to survey the field of eLearning, identify the leading learning management systems, and review the major trends and issues related to using eLearning to improve educational results. Guided by the principles of how people learn, candidates adopt an eLearning tool appropriate for creating their final project, thereby putting theory into practice.

Module 3: Open Education Resources (OER)

When people refer to education resources as “open” they mean the materials are freely available online.

In the United States, the federal government has an OER initiative called #GoOpen. Follow this link to learn about #GoOpen at https://tech.ed.gov/open/. A rule is pending that would require all grant funded materials to have an open license.

The most popular open licenses are those issued by Creative Commons. Anyone can apply these licenses to make materials available according to the following license types:

The tool at https://creativecommons.org/choose can help you decide which license is appropriate for your needs.
