eLearning Resources
As noted in the course description, the purpose of this course is to survey the field of eLearning, identify the leading learning management systems, and review the major trends and issues related to using eLearning to improve educational results. Guided by the principles of how people learn, candidates adopt an eLearning tool appropriate for creating their final project, thereby putting theory into practice.
Module 6: Digital Badges
A digital badge is a type of online microcredential indicating that someone has completed an instructional unit or module. As more institutions look to implement competency-based learning, digital badges promise to help keep track of what units or modules a learner has passed.
There is an open badge standard called Open Badges. The IMS Global Learning Consortium keeps this list of certified badging systems. One of the systems listed is Badgr which can plug in to the Canvas eLearning system used here at the University of Delaware.
