Ed Tech Intro Resources
As noted in the course description, the purpose of this course is to provide a comprehensive overview of the field of educational technology. Guided by the standards that our field has evolved, candidates learn how to plan for impactful integration of technology, thereby putting theory into practice.
Module 1: Professional Associations and Standards
The field of educational technology is rich in associations and standards. Perhaps chief among these is ISTE, which is the International Society for Technology in Education. Especially in K-12, ISTE is generally regarded as the key standards body for educational technology. Almost all of the United States endorse the ISTE standards, including Delaware.
Another important ed tech association is the AECT, which is the Association for Educational Communications and Technology. In addition to creating standards, holding annual conferences, and publishing magazines and journals, the AECT publishes the Handbook of Research on Educational Communications and Technology, which is one of the most important scholarly resources in our field.
