Biological safety cabinets are primary containment devices for use with infectious agents. They are divided into classifications regarding level of risk. The cabinet class required is dependent on the type of work to be performed. Laminar flow clean benches are used for work with nonhazardous materials only. It is vital that the proper equipment is selected for each application. Below is information regarding classes of biological safety cabinets.
