How do I obtain my temporary password?

  1. Link to this secure UD web site.
  2. Log in with your central University account information to obtain your temporary password.

I am unable to log in to Microsoft Outlook.

  1. Verify your user name is set to admin\UDelNetID. (If you are using Outlook Web Access, admin\ is not necessary.)
  2. If you’re not in your office, try opening Outlook Web Access (OWA). The Exchange server allows access from Outlook only in certain locations.
  3. If you can’t log into OWA or Microsoft Outlook, you may need your password reset. Call your CITA. If you don’t have a CITA, call the IT Help Center at 831-6000.
  4. Verify that the caps lock on the number keypad is turned on. If you use the keypad to type in a password that contains numbers, your password will not be entered correctly.

I was sent an e-mail message with pictures, and I see red x’s where there should be graphics.

  1. Microsoft blocks certain e-mail content for security reasons. If you want to see the picture/contents, look for a grey bar similar to the one below:

  1. Click on any area in the gray bar to load the pictures. Be aware of the risk involved in downloading pictures.

I try to access a public folder, and it appears blank.

  1. You may not have access to the public folder. Call your CITA or the Help Center at ext. 6000 to verify you have access to the public folder.
  2. Request access to the public folder. The person who maintains the public folder should make this request via the department CITA or ext. 6000. Please specify the required access (e.g., read versus edit and delete privileges).
  3. When access has been granted, restart Microsoft Outlook.

I can see a public calendar but can’t add anything to it.

You may not have permission to edit the calendar. Please have the person who maintains the calendar request the access you need via the department CITA or the Help Center at ext. 6000.


I'm expecting an e-mail message, and it hasn’t arrived.

  1. Click the Send/Receive button on the toolbar.
  2. Check the Junk E-mail folder to verify the e-mail was not tagged as spam.
  3. Call the sender and verify that the message was sent using your correct e-mail address.

Someone was supposed to send me a message with an e-mail attachment. The e-mail arrived, but there is no attachment.

Verify that the attachment was a permitted file format. The following attachment types are blocked:

  1. *.exe
  2. *.bat
  3. *.pif
  4. *.com
  5. *.scr
  6. *.mpg
  7. *.mov
  8. *.zip
  9. *.tar
  10. *.gzip

In general, the following files types are also blocked:

  1. Binary files
  2. Executable files
  3. Zipped or compressed files
  4. Movie files
  5. Audio files

NOTE
If you need to send an attachment larger than 50MB, use the UD Drop Box at http://www.udel.edu/dropbox.


I need to recover a message that I deleted.

  1. Check the Deleted Items folder. You can recover the item by dragging it to another folder.
  2. If you need an e-mail that you sent to the recycle bin, and you’ve already emptied the Deleted Items folder, select the Deleted Items folder.
  3. From the Tools menu, select Recover deleted items.
  4. Select the item(s) you wish to recover, and click the Recover selected items button on the toolbar.

NOTE
Items that have been removed from the Deleted Items folder for more than two weeks cannot be recovered

Messages I need are found in the Junk E-mail folder.

  1. Drag the message from the Junk E-mail folder to the folder of your choice.
  2. If you expect to receive additional messages from the sender, whitelist the sender in Mirapoint Webmail Direct. Read the instructions about how to whitelist an e-mail address.

How can I check the size of my mailbox?

  1. In the folder list on the left, right-click Mailbox – (Last, First).
  2. Click Properties for Mailbox - (Last, First).
  3. Click Folder Size to see the size of your mailbox as well as the size of each folder.

Working smart.

  1. Save drafts of e-mail messages.
  2. Back up personal and archived folders.
  3. Periodically check your Junk E-mail folder to verify that e-mail you need is not being tagged as spam.
  4. Set up filters to automate filing, especially for Junk E-mail.
  5. Set up archiving of specific folders that contain messages not routinely accessed.

How do I change my password?

  1. Go to the WebMail address https://webmail.admin.udel.edu/owa and log in.
  2. Click Options in the top-right of your screen.
  3. Click Change Password from the list on the left-hand side of the screen.

How can I whitelist or blocklist an e-mail address from Outlook?

  1. Go to the WebMail address https://webmail.admin.udel.edu/owa and log in.
  2. Click Options in the top-right of your screen.
  3. Click Junk E-mail from the list of options.
  4. To whitelist an address, enter the address under Manage Safe Senders List.
  5. To blocklist an address, enter the address under Manage Blocked Senders List.

How do I set my vacation message?

  1. Go to the WebMail address https://webmail.admin.udel.edu/owa and log in.
  2. Click Options in the top-right of your screen.
  3. Click Out of Office Assistant.

IT recommends that you set the message for Senders in my Contacts list.

NOTE
In addition to the first section for sender inside my organization, do not set it for anyone outside my organization.


How can I view someone's calendar through the WebMail interface?

First, make sure the user has given you access to their calendar. Then enter the link below, substituting "username" with the person's UDelNetID. You will be required to log in with your Exchange credentials.

To open to a daily view:

To open to a weekly view:

How can I change the colors of my calendars?

You cannot change the default colors of your calendars. The color depends upon the order of opening each one. Blue is always your default calendar, then green, pink, gray, aqua, purple, etc.


I'm not receiving e-mails from my printer/scanner, why not?

To receive e-mails from your printer/scanner you must type the e-mail address of the printer/scanner into the Safe Sender list as follows:

  1. From the Menu bar, click the following series of options: Action, Junk E-mail, Junk E-mail Option, Select Safe Senders.
  2. Click the Add button.
  3. Type the e-mail address of the printer/scanner (e.g., smithbizhub@udel.edu).

How can I add a student account for shared calendars and public folders?

To request a student account for shared calendars and public folders (no e-mail), call the Help Center at 831-6000. The account will remain active until the end of the term. If not otherwise notified, the student account will then be automatically removed.
