The College of Human Services, Education and Public Policy is committed to providing each undergraduate student with effective academic advisement and your role as an academic advisor in this collaborative effort is one that you should find both positive and rewarding!

View yourself as a co-navigator, assisting students through their academic experience here at UD. Through your contact, you have the ability to inspire confidence, identify resources, foster growth and development and assist with problem solving. Your advisees should view you not just as the individual they seek during registration periods but also as an active partner in their academic career. This partnership is most successful when both you and your advisees commit to certain established responsibilities.

In the beginning of each academic semester, your department will provide you with a complete list of advisees including new freshman and transfer students. You will also receive from the CHEP Office of Student Support Services, a file for each new student. This file is for your use, along with UDNotes, to document your continued communication with each student. These files should be returned to the CHEP OSSS for archiving when advisees graduate, change majors, or end matriculation at UD.
