ELI goes online

September ’07 marked the beginning of the cyber age of learning at ELI with the launching of the online course, Effective Business Writing for English Language Learners. The four-week course, accessible from anywhere in the world via the Internet, was developed by Mary Beth Worrilow in conjunction with the University of Delaware’s Division of Professional and Continuing Studies.

“The course is designed for intermediate and advanced speakers of English as a second language who have a good command of the spoken word but need additional instruction in business writing to communicate clearly, effectively and concisely,” said Worrilow.

“Students and working professionals who want to gain more confidence to meet the ever-evolving demands of the globalized economy through training in the basics of business writing should consider taking this course.”

The first offering of the online course took place in September. The next regular offering is scheduled for February 3-29, 2008. ELI alumni are eligible to receive a 15% discount on tuition. Corporations may register a group of employees at any time during the year for a special negotiated group rate.
