New law program to specialize in corporate and commercial law

ELI will expand its law programs by offering a new two-week program specializing in corporate and commercial law. The program will be offered twice in the spring of 2004.

The super-intensive program is designed especially for practicing attorneys who want to learn everything they can to take advantage of Delaware's liberal corporation laws for the benefit of their clients in their own countries. The program will concentrate on Delaware's key position as the corporation capital of the United States and will provide participants with practical, professional information, which they can immediately begin using at home. Participants will learn why each month thousands of international businesses choose to incorporate in Delaware, even if they do no business in the state. They will learn why many foreign companies choose Delaware, rather than Panama, Cyprus or other “offshore” locations, to incorporate. And, most importantly, they will learn how they can profit by providing Delaware incorporation services to their own clients without leaving their home countries.

The program's commercial law track will include a comprehensive presentation of U.S. contract law. Classes will focus on contract negotiation as well as on the accurate drafting and interpretation of American-style contracts. Students will meet with practicing U.S. attorneys and legal professionals in a variety of law offices and government agencies.

The new program has already generated considerable interest among international attorneys, and ELI looks forward to helping them succeed in their practice of law.
