Scholarships for peace

Since 2001, ELI has been running a campaign to raise funds in support of scholarships for disadvantaged ELI students and applicants. Entitled “A Thousand Voices for Peace,” the scholarship program was launched in response to the events of September 11.

“'These tragic events,” said Director Scott Stevens, “underscored the need for increased educational and cultural exchange as a vital means of fostering peace and creating economic opportunities for the world’s poorer citizens.”

The goal of the fund is to provide tuition scholarships for hundreds of international students to learn English. Anyone who has benefited from an ELI education or who believes in our mission is urged to consider sending a donation in any amount. Such a gift will help future students fulfill their dreams.

There are two easy ways to make a donation:

  • Send a check in $US payable to the “University of Delaware” at the following address: Office of Annual Giving, University of Delaware, Newark DE 19716. Please be sure to write “ELI” on the memo line.

  • Or go to the University of Delaware’s website (www.udel.edu/makeagift), click on the “By Credit Card” box, and complete the gift information form. Be sure to check “other” and type in “ELI” on the lower part of the form.

Thank you!
