Videotaped Courses
Sharing Videotapes
One set of course videotapes may be shared by up to three students at each work site; therefore, you are expected to follow your work site's procedures for viewing the videotapes. The distribution procedures will differ according to each site, and you should be familiar with the videotape distribution rules at your work site. All students at work sites must have fair access to the videotapes. Please contact your work site coordinator immediately if you have difficulty obtaining your class videotapes. Work site coordinators have the option of canceling work site privileges for students who do not follow site procedures. In special circumstances, and depending on tape availability, work site coordinators may request additional sets of course videotapes. If you do not wish to share videotapes, you may register as an individual/non-site participant and pay the appropriate resident or non-resident tuition plus the handling fee for each course.
Sets of videotapes from pre-taped courses are sent to your work site coordinator at the beginning of the semester. If the course is being taped during the current semester, your work site coordinator will receive class videotapes weekly.
Videotape Problems
Occasionally a videotape will be defective. Please notify the UD Online Annex immediately for a replacement videotape. (302/831-1078 or 1-800-597-1444 long distance only).
Returning Videotapes
Work sites are responsible for returning course videotapes to the UD Online Annex at the end of each semester. The UD Online tape inventory staff will inform work site coordinators of tape return deadlines for each semester. Please note that occasionally an instructor may grant an extension to a student to complete course work after the semester deadline, but this extension does not apply to the videotapes. The videotapes must be returned to the UD Online Annex promptly. This enables students who are registered for the next semester to receive their tapes on time. The only exception to this occurs when other students register for the same course at the same work site for the upcoming semester. In this case, videotapes may stay at the same work site between semesters. The packing list should be enclosed in the box when the videotapes are returned. There will be a $10 per tape fee for missing videotapes. Please make sure sets are complete. For complete sets that are ready by a designated pick-up date, a free tape return system is available to the site coordinator. This free return system is implemented only during specific time periods designated by the UD Online Annex office. Please contact the UD Online Annex for details at 302/831-1078 or 1-800-597-1444 (long-distance only). Please do not enclose any other correspondence or course assignments with the videotapes.
Overdue Videotapes
Students whose videotapes are overdue will have a financial hold placed on their University accounts equal to the replacement cost of the set of videotapes (a minimum of $180 per course). Students with financial holds on their accounts cannot register for future courses or receive transcripts from the University. Students with a tape hold history will not be permitted to register for future UD Online courses without the specific permission of their dean or advisor.
CD Roms
CD Roms are sent to the work site and are on loan for the semester. One CD Rom per student is sent to the site coordinator for distribution. Extensions on course work do not apply to the CD Roms themselves, which must be returned on schedule.
All Courses - Exam Procedures
Scheduling Exams
At the beginning of the semester, you will either receive a course syllabus from the UD Online office or you will purchase it from the UD Bookstore. The syllabus will include information on assignments and exams for most non-nursing courses in which you enroll. Most non-nursing course exams are handled by the UD Online office. Approximately two weeks before the date of an exam, the exam will be sent to your work site coordinator. It is your responsibility to contact your work site coordinator to schedule a time to take the exam. Please refer to your syllabus for instructions concerning exam deadlines and faculty policies.
The UD Online office requires that all non-nursing exams (whether taken or not) be returned to the University by the Friday of the scheduled exam week. After mid-semester no exams will be sent out to the work site for students whose first exam has not been taken and returned to the UD Online office, unless special permission has been granted by the faculty member.
After you complete the exam, your work site coordinator will send it to the UD Online office. The exam then will be forwarded to your instructor for grading. Depending on your instructor's grade notification procedure, you will receive either the graded exam or an exam-grade report.
Graduating seniors need to notify faculty and the UD Online office of their status and arrange special exam dates.
Exams for nursing courses are handled by the College of Health and Nursing Sciences, whose Division of Special Programs will send students specific instructions for nursing courses.
Exam Security
Incidents of academic misconduct at the work site, although rare, are subject to University procedures for handling cases of academic dishonesty. Academic misconduct also may jeopardize the future authorization of the work site. Students are encouraged to read the abbreviated brochure on Academic Honesty and Dishonesty that is mailed at the beginning of each semester.
Other Work Site Issues
Your work site coordinator will receive registration and information forms from the UD Online office during the registration period before each semester. Students registered in previous semesters also will receive forms and information. If you do not receive upcoming course information by the end of the semester in which you are currently enrolled, please call 302/831-3581 or 1-800-597-1444 (long distance only).
If you are using a work site voucher, please remember that it is your responsibility to comply with all work site procedures and deadlines before the UD Online registration deadlines. Confirmation of the work site voucher must accompany your registration.
It is also the student's responsibility, not the work site coordinator's, to make sure that registration and course deadlines are met.
Note: If you change your work site, please notify the UD Online office immediately.
