Microsoft OneDrive and MFA
Microsoft's OneDrive for Business is a cloud based storage solution available to all current University of Delaware faculty, staff, and students through UD's Office 365 subscription. OneDrive allows for concurrent file editing in native Microsoft file formats including Word, Excel and PowerPoint. OneDrive also enables web-based versions of the same popular applications, so they can be used from anywhere a web browser is available.
OneDrive uses Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), a second factor login security enhancement, similar to UD’s Two-Factor Authorization (2FA). It was introduced with OneDrive to allow for enhanced security of all Microsoft cloud-based offerings (Office 365 for Education), which include Skype for Business, Exchange Online, and SharePoint Online.
Exchange Online
All UD Central Exchange accounts will be moved to Exchange Online by the end of April 2018. This migration is required to enhance the security of UD Exchange accounts and the security of University information, federally protected information (e.g., personal information about students or employees), and other confidential information entrusted to Exchange users. All users will be required to use MFA to access this service. UD IT is now scheduling transitions for all Exchange users by contacting departmental IT staff across campus. This migration will affect approximately 3,000 users and 800 shared resources.
