Evening program grows

Sundown doesn’t mean “lights out” at ELI, as hundreds of residents of the tri-state area have discovered. Now in its seventh year, the Evening Program offers English classes to clients from all over the world and all walks of life at the beginning, intermediate and advanced levels.

An increase in enrollment to at least 30 in 2006 expanded the number of teachers from two to four. Currently teaching are Walt Babich, Bonnie Dawson, Julie Louis and Jason Lilley. Those enrolled in the program include graduate students, spouses of visiting university scholars, au pairs and other hardworking members of the local community.

The course of instruction meets visa requirements for au pairs, and the Delaware Department of Labor provides funding for some eligible residents. Classes meet twice a week for nine weeks in the early evening.

For more information about the Evening Program, please contact Laurie Fuhrman at 302-831-2675.
