Tracy is from a Lake Placid family with a strong background in the Nordic ski world.  His father, Vernon was a member of the 1980 Lake Placid Olympic Organizing Committee and an International ski jumping judge.  His father is also an inductee into the US ski hall of fame.   Older brother Joe was a Nordic Combined Olympian in 1972 and presently servers on many Nordic committees for FIS (Federation International Ski).  Tracy, a graduate of Temple University, was an active Biathlete who just missed landing a position on the 1984 U.S. Olympic Team.  He became the national coach for Biathlon in 1985 and helped the US win its first International medal in Biathlon in 1987 (Josh Thompson’s silver medal at the 1987 World Championships).  In 1988 he served as coach for the US Olympic Biathlon Team in Calgary.   After the games in Calgary he was hired by Biathlon Canada to oversee their Biathlon program.  Tracy was head coach for Biathlon Canada from 1989 to 1991 helping Canada win its first medals ever in the sport of Biathlon, working with a young Canadian female athlete named Myrian Bedard (two time Olympic Games Gold medalist).   In 1992 Tracy started working as the Operations Manager at the US Olympic Training Center in Lake Placid.  He is still active in his sport of Biathlon serving as an International Technical Delegate for the IBU (International Biathlon Union,).  Tracy’s other role in Biathlon is that of an Organizer.  In 1999 /2001 and 2004 Tracy organized and served as chief of competition for the Biathlon World Cup events hosted in Lake Placid.  For the 2002 Olympic Biathlon competitions in Salt Lake Tracy worked as Chief of Stadium. In 2006 Tracy served as the Team Leader for the 2006 US Olympic Biathlon Team competing in Torino Italy.  In 2006 the Coca-Cola Company presented the LIVE OLYMPIC award to Tracy, his brother and parents during the 2006 Winter Games in Torino as a family who lived and represent the Olympic ideal.

Tracy’s duties at the Olympic training center as the Director include working with the various national governing bodies on their sport programs in Chula Vista and coordinating the efforts of the community and state towards supporting sport programs and events.  In 2008 San Diego magazine selected Tracy as one of the top 50 people to watch.

Tracy has served his community as well, prior to moving to California Tracy was the Vice President of the Lake Placid Central School Board, a member of the Lake Placid/North Elba Historical Society, a member of the Adirondack Medical Wellness Advisory Board as well as serving on the ORDA (Olympic Regional Development Authority) Community Advisory Panel. Tracy serves on the Executive Board  of the Association of Sport performance Centers serving as its  Treasure.

Tracy and his wife Alicia have two children; Kaleigh and Colden.
