academic advisement

The College of Human Services, Education and Public Policy is committed to providing you with effective academic advisement and we encourage you to take advantage of the support services our College has to offer.

Even though you are ultimately responsible for your academic decisions and actions, you have been assigned a professional or faculty academic advisor who will assist you along the way. Just in case you aren't sure who your advisor is, you can find out by accessing the UDSIS system. Or, if for any reason you have an interest in changing advisors, you may visit your departmental office to make this request.

Since advisors can be such invaluable resources, it’s in your best interest to establish a solid relationship and become familiar with the roles and responsibilities both you and your advisor play. It is critical that you meet regularly to ensure you're on track and that your goals and interests are being met. Depending on your classification (FRESHMAN, SOPHOMORE, JUNIOR, SENIOR), there will be times during each academic year when it may be necessary to visit your advisor. To get the most from your next advisement appointment, check out these helpful hints to help you plan accordingly.
