ARCHITECTURE

Based on when we believed the house was built, it would likely have many of the characteristics of a Federal-style row house. A Federal-style house “brought elegance and luxury to Americans who could afford it.” It was during the Federal-style period that homeowners began to pay specific attention to the function of each room. The first floor was for entertaining and one of the rooms was designated for dining. It was also during this period bedrooms became private, and began to be put exclusively on the second floor or above.
