Personnel notesOrientation assistant Stephanie Donoghue left ELI in June to pursue a job in Indiana. Everyone at ELI wishes her all the best of luck. Mary McCloskey has left the ELI faculty and is now teaching Spanish in the Christina School District. Jo Gielow and Lisa Grimsley have been assigned to teach in the Christina School District's ESL program this year. Lisa Grimsley and Russ Mason successfully completed their sixth year ELI Peer Reviews. Jan Lefebvre is currently serving as the ELI's visiting scholar and English exchange instructor at Kobe Shoin Women's University in Kobe, Japan. Orientation coordinator David Quayle, who was called into military service by the Army Reserve after the September 11 attacks in 2001, returned to the Institute on October 1, 2002 after one year of active duty in Texas. ELI staff and faculty members are delighted to welcome David back. Katy Drew Braiewa has joined ELI as the coordinator of the Self Access Learning Center, replacing Jack Chen, who is studying for his master's degree in English as a Second Language and Bilingual Education at UD. ELI congratulates Katy on her marriage to Robert Braiewa last December. Newcomers Berton Ashman and Vickie Abdul-Salam have joined the ELI Tutoring Center staff. Bonnie Raimy has returned to the tutoring staff after a stint teaching public school classes. Bonnie is now tutoring only three days a week since she wants to spend more time with her new baby. Elizabeth Ryan has also returned to the Tutoring Center. Tutoring Center coordinator Linda Bigler has accepted a position in UD's Center for Teaching Effectiveness. ELI wishes Linda the very best. |
