ELI renews grant to train
Ukrainian legal professionals

The ELI-Ukraine connection continued in 2001, as 30 Ukrainian judges and lawyers attended programs at ELI in the American legal system and the administration of justice. With funding from a U.S. State Department grant, the Ukrainian participants took classes and seminars in American family law, criminal law, court procedure, and corporate and commercial law. Each group also spent ten days in "hands-on" professional visitations with the Delaware Family Court, Superior Court, Department of Justice, Division of Corporations, Federal District Court, private law offices and a variety of government agencies. The participants have now returned to Ukraine and will pass on the knowledge they received by sharing it with their colleagues and putting their experience to practical use. ELI has been awarded another federal grant to train an additional 30 Ukrainian legal professionals in the year 2002.
