A Message from the Director

The scientific design of the Bridging Advanced Developments for Exceptional Rehabilitation (BADER) Consortium model has been quite successful, and is arguably the pathway to establish and sustain a world-class system of rehabilitation research that yields immediate and profound impact on clinical care for wounded warriors.

Steven Stanhope Research

The Bridging Advanced Developments for Exceptional Rehabilitation (BADER) Consortium was proud to be part of the effort to help service members and veterans with traumatic orthopaedic injury reach their highest level of function.

We did this by creating a framework that supported a research-focused culture at the military treatment facilities and clinical centers we worked with.

We offered:

  • Research Capacity Building – We helped individuals and institutions undertake, share and sustain high-quality research through our Clinical Research Core, research expertise and mentorship, and research training.
  • Research Support Infrastructures – With the omnibus CRADA, the Clinical Trials Database, and partnerships with industry, academia and military treatment centers, we offered the assistance and opportunities that helped this important orthopaedic rehabilitation research to happen.
  • Initiative Launching Studies – We conducted a variety of innovative, high impact and clinically relevant BADER-funded research studies that led to sustainable, externally funded research programs. We also supported over 85 research studies conducted at Military Treatment Facilities as a result of the Research Capacity Building structure.

We were honored to partner with the military medical treatment community in order to help our wounded warriors achieve their personal goals and live rich and empowered lives.

For military service members who survive severe musculoskeletal and orthopedic injuries, return to optimal performance IS possible. Today’s wounded warriors benefit from state-of-the-art technology and advancements in rehabilitation care to help them reach their goals which, for some, is return to duty.  Please listen to the personal stories from wounded warriors.
