Preconference Workshops

  • PBL: Experience It Yourself: A Model for Problem-Based Learning for All Classes

  • Writing Effective Problem-Based Materials

  • PBL from Disciplinary Perspectives 

The following two workshops are designed for educators new to problem-based learning and offer an opportunity for experiencing the power of PBL and developing custom PBL materials.

PBL: Experience It Yourself: A Model for Problem-Based Learning for All Classes*

Participants will work through a PBL problem, exploring a variety of strategies to use in problem-based instruction.

Writing Effective Problem-Based Materials*

Participants will learn to write materials suitable for a problem-based course. By the end of the session, participants will have a draft of a problem or case for their own course.

* Also offered during the conference as part of the introductory workshop strand.

PBL from Disciplinary Perspectives

Participants will learn about PBL practices in the following areas and have an opportunity to interact with colleagues exploring the application of PBL in their teaching.

Preconference Workshop Participation

The costs for preconference workshops offered on Sunday, June 16 are $50 for one workshop and $80 for two workshops. Full conference participation is required to register for the preconference workshops.
