“The Age of Federal Adolescence” occurred between the years of 1790 and 1850. Due to the recent excavation of Greco-Roman cities, forms of Greece and Rome were identified with the democratic ideas.

Classic Revival interiors had several distinguishing characteristics. Wood paneling, which was a marked characteristic of pre-Revolutionary design. Practically disappeared in favor of simple plaster finish. Mantels of classic detail in wood or marble were widespread. The Greek key and acanthus were popular motifs.
