Employees
If you are a faculty or staff member who wishes to park your vehicle on campus, a valid permit for your vehicle is required at all times in other than pay-to-park facilities.
Faculty and staff employed on the Newark Campus may register for Blue, Gold, Gated Lot, Carpool, or Reserved permits. Faculty and Staff who receive University of Delaware benefits are not required to provide vehicle information when obtaining a permit. Employee hang tags are valid on the vehicle they are displayed on and must be displayed from the rearview mirror.
Faculty and staff who receive University of Delaware benefits may register for free Blue Lot permits providing it is their initial permit registration for that school year. These permits are restricted to designated portions of both Lot 88 (west of the Bob Carpenter Center) and Lot 6 (on the Laird Campus) between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, except during break periods when the shuttle bus service is not in operation (e.g. holidays, Spring Break, and Summer). If a blue permit holder needs to park in a gold lot during the restricted hours, scratch off day passes can be purchased in advance. Blue permits are only valid when used by the employee. Family members are not eligible to use this permit.
Faculty and staff may register for Gold Lot permits for a fee. Gold-coded lots represent the largest number of parking lots on campus providing access to parking on all portions of the campus.
Faculty and staff may register for Gated Lot permits for a fee. Parking space in gated lots is limited and permits are sold on a "space available" basis. Gated Lot parking is available in Lot 21 located behind the Academy Building, Lot 37 located next to 25 Amstel Avenue, Lot 20 located at Carpenter Sports building, a portion of Lot 53 behind Pearson Hall, Lot 57 the Russell Gate lot located on Academy Street, Lot 14C CFA parking garage on Amstel Avenue, a portion of Lot 34 located next to Morris Library, a portion of Lot 35 adjacent to Hullihen Hall, Lot 4 Perkins parking garage, and a portion of Lot 17 (the parking garage) adjacent to the Trabant University Center.
Faculty and staff may register for a Staff Carpool permit for a fee. Carpool permits are issued annually and confer either Blue, Gold, or Gate-Controlled lot privileges. Carpools with two members share the normal fee for the option chosen. Staff Carpools with three or more members receive a 10% discount on the price of the option chosen. Additionally, each member of a Staff Carpool will receive forty free daily permits for use when more than one car must be on campus on a given day (the number passes will be prorated based on the month the permit is purchased).
Faculty and staff may apply for a Reserved Parking permit for a fee. A limited number of Reserved parking spaces are available on the Newark campus, and their locations will be determined by the Department of Public Safety. Reserved permits may be for 24 hours a day, seven days a week, or from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday depending upon the fee paid. Persons registered for the reserved space shall be responsible for notifying the Department of Public Safety if an unauthorized vehicle is parked in their space. Use of a reserved space by other than the registered owner is limited to persons who are granted permission by the owner and who are registered for a University permit for the lot in which the space is located, or who are bona fide visitors. Reserved space permit holders may not use regular color-coded spaces in the lot within which or adjacent to those to which they are assigned except as directed by Public Safety.
Residence Hall Directors and Complex Coordinators who are required to reside on campus have the option of choosing to register for a reserved space at the established rate for a Gate permit, a Gate permit for the established rate of a Gold permit, or a Gold permit for seventy-five percent of the price. Those who choose to register for a reserved space will be assigned to parking locations as convenient to their residences as possible. Spouses of Hall Directors, Area Coordinators, and Assistant Coordinators will be eligible for parking at gold permit rates established for commuting students. A son, daughter, or spouse of an employee associated with the University can only park a vehicle in a lot for which they themselves are eligible to register (e.g., freshman commuter student must park in a Red Lot between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday - Friday even if the vehicle has a gold registration permit).
Faculty and staff, when registering for a permit, must understand they are responsible for all violations issued to the permit(s) and/or vehicles assigned/registered to them. They agree to report to the Parking Office any changes that affect their parking eligibility. In addition, the employee authorizes the University to transfer all parking fines and late fees not paid after 30 days from the date of the decision of appeal or 30 days from the date of the violation, whichever is later, to Human Resources for payroll deduction or a collection agency.
Daily permits are available to all Faculty and Staff who do not wish to register for a regular parking permit because they do not normally drive to campus but find, on occasion, that the use of a vehicle is a necessity. The permit must be purchased at the Parking Services office prior to parking on campus. The Daily permit must be properly displayed. Daily permits are non-refundable.
