Applying National Standards to Improve Educational Results

EDTC Admission Criteria

The University of Delaware uses a Web-based admissions process through which candidates apply online for admission to the EDTC program. Everything in the application is kept online, including transcripts, grade-point averages, TOEFL scores, essays, and printed documents such as letters of recommendation, which are optically scanned into the online admissions system. Faculty review the applications online and may comment online if any part of the application is found wanting.

Specific admission requirements are:

  1. A bachelor's degree in a field relevant to the applicant's proposed program.

  2. An undergraduate grade point average of 3.0 or higher.

  3. A minimum TOEFL score of 600 (paper-based test) or 250 (computer-based test) from applicants whose first language is not English.

  4. Three letters of recommendation testifying to the applicant's academic abilities.

  5. A complete program application including a written essay describing goals and objectives.

  6. Candidates who seek the ISTE Technology Facilitation (TF) endorsement must hold a basic teaching license. When taking the program's multimedia course (EDUC 685), teachers on the TF track will create an ePortfolio consisting of artifacts demonstrating that the teacher has met the NETS-T standards. Successful demonstration of NETS-T compliance is required of all teachers who apply for the TF endorsement; see the NETS-T ePortfolio scoring rubric. Note: Licensure is not required of candidates who are not seeking the TF endorsement.
