Managing Students - How can I differentiate centers?

I have all my centers up and running in my first grade classroom and the students are very independent moving from center to center while I work with small groups. The problem is I just feel like the centers could be more beneficial if they were tailored to meet the specific needs of the students in my classroom. For now I just have generic centers established for all students to engage in.
