3rd Grade Summarizing & Vocabulary
This third grade class is listening to the story of Miss Rumphius for the first time. They are practicing the strategy of summarizing during reading, using a story map as a graphic organizer to help.
After the story, notice how the teacher introduces the two vocabulary words (curious and wander), then encourages the students to use the words in different contexts.
After the whole group lesson, the teacher repeats the lesson with a small group to reinforce the strategy of summarizing and learning the two new vocabulary words.
