Work-life

Blue Hen Heroes

At the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, it felt like the world had come to a stop but these employees persevered to keep the UD community up and running. The monthly segment on Working at UD will highlight our Blue Hen Heroes who are working diligently each day to create and maintain safe spaces for us all and continuing to meet challenges of protecting the flock.

Employee Health and Wellbeing

One year in, the COVID-19 pandemic has changed the way we live, work and play. Social injustice has brought to light how far we still need to come as a country, and a presidential election caused strain on everyone. At the same time, with resilience, perseverance, innovation and collaboration, UD faculty and staff proved that when we band together as a community, we can weather any storm.

Please share your stories. By providing connection, support and inspiration through the lens of our community, we want to show how wellbeing has helped YOU through this past year.

Blue Hen Re-Coop Day

The University will hold its third annual Blue Hen Re-Coop Day on Tuesday, March 30 coinciding with the break in classes for students–to focus on mental health awareness and provide an opportunity for our UD community to pause and reflect on wellbeing. Whether you can set aside a minute, an hour or the day, we encourage you to make the most of #BlueHenReCoop by participating in activities for students, faculty and staff that support your wellbeing before, during and after March 30.

We understand that not all employees may be able to participate in Re-Coop Day due to business needs, and we appreciate your commitment to keeping UD running for our students. We encourage you to find an alternate time to dedicate to yourself during this week.

Please visit the UD Calendar of Events in the coming weeks for opportunities to connect, engage and participate in wellbeing activities.

Online Social Justice Education

The Office of Institutional Equity, Diversity and Inclusion encourages all employees to review their online social justice education opportunity. Employees received a personalized email invitation from our online education partner, Everfi, on Tuesday, Feb. 23. This optional module provides an excellent foundation for future social justice conversations within your units and departments. Employees can find additional educational opportunities on the EDI education site.

UD Women’s Caucus Offers Survey Opportunity

The Women's Caucus is interested in documenting how COVID-19 has affected work life experiences, including caregiving experiences, among faculty and staff across the University. By caregiving, we mean persons for whom you provide care in or out of your home part-time or full-time across all age groups and needs (e.g., children, parents, those with medical needs). This anonymous survey takes about 10 minutes to complete. The survey results will be used to understand the effects of COVID-19 and the resources that faculty and staff may need. The survey closes on April 1, 2021.
