The Card

The i-card is the official identification card of the University of Delaware. UD#1 Cards are still valid.

The University issues the i-card to students, faculty, staff, spouses, departments, groups attending conferences and groups enrolled in special programs.

The card is the property of the University of Delaware and is returned to the institution at the end of the cardholder's association with the University of Delaware (UD).

The Many Advantages

The i-card can be used to access such services and facilities as parking and fitness centers , student activities and voting, the dispensary and student health services, athletic facilities and events , dining meals and points , laundry, and copiers with UD1 FLEX . You can also arrange access to STAR® (previously MAC®) through a PNC Bank Account.

The library and University Bookstore systems are interfaced to read the i-card. You can use your card to check books out of the library or pay for books at the bookstore (whether with FLEX, STAR® or from a scholarship or student loan disbursement to your student account).

Eligibility for these applications is determined by cardholder classification (determined by the Office of the Registrar) and account balance.

Card Security

Lost/stolen i-cards can be reported 24 hours a day by dialing (302) 831-CARD (2273), then using your UD ID (student identification) Number and PIN to suspend your card. This action will prevent unauthorized use of your card.

Cards that are lost or stolen can be replaced with proper identification. A replacement fee of $25 is charged. For students, this fee can be paid by FLEX or a charge to the student's account. For faculty/staff members and other members of the University community, the fee can be paid by FLEX, cash or check. Damaged i-cards should be returned to the ID Card Office in the Student Services Building for replacement.

If a lost or stolen card is recovered before a replacement is issued, you may reactivate the card with proper identification at the Student Services Building.

If you find an i-card, it should be turned in to the ID CARD office.

The i-card is property of the University of Delaware and is not transferable. Any i-card being used by an individual who is not the authorized cardholder is subject to confiscation by University personnel. Any attempt to use another individual's i-card is a violation of University policy and subject to action by the Office of Student Conduct. The card must be presented to University personnel on demand and to access University services and facilities.

The Technology

A digitized image of the cardholder appears on the card, along with the cardholder's name and classification. A half inch encoded HICO magnetic stripe is read by the various system cardreaders on campus, retrieving the cardholder's privileges, access and security.

The ID CARD office is located at:
Student Services Building
30 Lovett Avenue
