Summer Faculty Institute issues call for proposals
The 14th annual University of Delaware Summer Faculty Institute offers faculty the opportunity to discuss the opportunities, successes, and challenges of teaching and learning in a technology-rich educational environment.
This year, from June 1-4, faculty can attend a weeklong, hands-on curriculum designed by UD faculty for UD faculty. “This call for proposals is designed to encourage faculty to recommend topics that have helped them the most and hold the most significance for them,” Paul Hyde, IT Academic Technology Services, said.
What's new this year
This year's program will feature UD faculty
presentations that will be chosen from
proposals submitted -- and voted on -- by
faculty members.
“We hope this strategy will support a more faculty-oriented program because faculty will be proposing what they are ready to share or want to learn,” Hyde said.
The Institute's theme and session schedule will be developed from the workshop and presentation proposals received. Information Technologies (IT) staff members will complement the faculty presentations with technical instruction sessions.
You can submit a new proposal or vote on submitted proposals until April 11 at the IT Academic Technology Services Web site.
“We're also adding a number of diverse session formats this year, including one-hour hands-on sessions, 'lightning' (five minute) presentations, posters and pre-recorded sessions,” Hyde said.
The Summer Faculty Institute is one of the premier events on campus for faculty to expand their understanding and share their insights regarding teaching using technology. As at past year's institutes, this year's will include an off-campus speaker who will provide fresh insight into teaching with technology. This year's speaker will be announced later this spring; previous keynote speakers have included
