Sakai success allows UD to discontinue MyCourses/WebCT June 4

// Mar 18, 2010---

Over the past two years, UD Information Technologies staff have been guiding University faculty as they convert the online components of their courses from the WebCT learning management system to Sakai@UD.

The conversion has been so successful that no courses remain on MyCourses (WebCT) for the spring semester. This spring, there are 1,226 Sakai@UD courses, representing 40 percent of all University rosters and 48 percent of University undergraduate enrollment. Faculty have found that Sakai can enhance teaching and learning and that it allows increased student collaboration and increased communication between students and faculty.

UD's WebCT server will be turned off after the spring 2010 semester. Therefore, any WebCT content or data that a faculty member might wish to use later must be copied by June 4, 2010. Directions for archiving WebCT content are available at the Sakai@UD training web site

Faculty members or course designers who need WebCT course data restored from a previous semester should submit an IT Help Center request no later than Wednesday, March 31. However, that material must be archived promptly. The University community will not have access to WebCT after Friday, June 4.

If you have any questions about archiving WebCT files or data, submit an IT Help Center request or call the IT Help Center at 831-6000.
