The 1996 Spring Meeting of the Eastern Section will be combined with the Spring Meeting of the Delaware Teachers of Science (DTS) and will be held May 23-26 at the Stanton Campus of Delaware Technical and Community College, Stanton, Delaware (Just off I-95).
Northern Delaware has been picked for the meeting since it will allow reasonably easy access to our field trip sites while remaining affordable. Delaware has NO sales tax (although there is a room tax), reasonable prices and yet is within 90 minutes of the Atlantic Ocean, Philadelphia, and Baltimore.
We have a full session planned beginning with a Mini-tour of the duPont Mineral Collection at the University of Delaware and a social in the hospitality suite in Shoney's - our "headquarters" hotel. Participants should book their own rooms - AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. Unfortunately we are meeting over the same weekend as the University of Delaware's graduation - thus hotel rooms will fill quickly!
Directions to the Meeting Site
From the North - Follow I-95 south into Delaware. Watch for the Exit marked Del. 7 North (EXIT #4). As you leave the Interstate - you will see the Delaware Technical and Community College Stanton Campus on your right. Shoney's is just past the first light - also on your right.
From the South and West - Follow I-95 north into Delaware. Watch for the Exit marked Del. 7 North (EXIT #4). As you leave the Interstate - you will see the Delaware Technical and Community College Stanton Campus on your right, just beyond the first light. To get to Shoney's turn LEFT at the light and the hotel is just ahead, on your right.
From the North and West - Take Pa. 41 south through Avondale. Just beyond the mushroom houses at Kaolin - turn right onto Del. 7. Follow Del. 7 south approximately 9 miles (past the signs for Delaware Park). You will see Delaware Technical and Community College Stanton Campus on your left, just before the light for Del. 58 (Churchman's Road). To get to Shoney's, turn RIGHT at the light and the hotel is just ahead, also on your right.
