Welcome

Dr. Barnett's work focuses on developing sustainable energy systems with new functionality by using the advances, technology, and predictive power of semiconductors in combination with the potential of emerging fields such as nano- and biotechnology. He believes that the conversion of sunlight to electricity using the photovoltaic effect is a charge mandated by nature: “Solar-generated electricity is a high-value energy source that can be used everywhere,” he says, “and we need to capitalize on it.” Dr. Barnett's integrated program of research and education in the area of solar power engineering and policy offers opportunities for student experiences at all levels and collaboration with universities, government labs, industry, and international organizations.
