  1. The Federalists argued that the Constitution was necessary to save the nation. What evidence is there that the new nation was experiencing a "critical period" under the Articles that required this drastic change in the government?
  2. Draw a social portrait of the delegates to the convention. What were their strengths? What were their weaknesses?
  3. What conflicts arose in the discussions of the executive branch and the legislative branch and how was each resolved?
  4. How would you describe the delegates' attitude toward power? What examples can you give that demonstrate how they dealt with the concentration of power?
  5. What arguments did the antiFederalists put forward in their efforts to defeat the constitution?
