For 2004-2005 there are three weekend Workshops scheduled and one 2-week long Summer Institute. All of these are mandatory for the participants. See below for the exact dates and the itinerary for each session.

Workshops:

  • The American Constitution: Origins and Influences
    October 29-30, 2004
    (see intinerary)
    Historian: Dr. James Magee
    Learn about the ideas and historical events that influenced those charged with creating the American Constitution in 1787.
  • 1787: Behind the scenes at the Constitutional Convention
    February 25-26, 2005
    (see intinerary)
    Historian: Dr. Carol Berkin
    Step inside Independence Hall to find out what was really taking place during that sweltering Philadelphia summer of 1787.
  • Launching the Grand Experiment
    May 6-7, 2005
    (see intinerary)
    Historian: Dr. Cathy Matson
    Explore the challenges and trials that the new nation faced while attempting to implement this new document in the 1790s.


Summer Institute:

  • The American Constitution: Our Nation’s Framework
    July 11-15, 2005
    Historian: Dr. Francis Stites
    Historian: Linda Monk
    Historian: Professor Robert Hayman
    Children’s authors will join historians for an in-depth study of the history and ideas embodied in the Constitution, along with those who created it. (see itinerary)
  • The American Constitution as an Organic Document
    July 18-22, 2005

    Historian: Dr. Erica Armstrong
    Historian: Dr. James Marten
    Historian: Dr. Susan Strasser
    Children’s authors will join historians to trace the impact of the Constitution at key points in American History. (see itinerary)
