The Office of Human Resources will be implementing a new talent acquisition system called UD Talent Link, scheduled to launch on April 1, 2019. The new suite of tools will streamline and simplify the entire recruitment cycle for both internal and external users. Learn more.

Completed performance appraisals are due March 31. For more information and to get started, review the Performance Management Overview. Employee development resources are available in ConnectingU on the HR ATLAS tab under Employee Relations & Performance.

Flexible Spending Account (FSA) grace period deadline

For employees enrolled in a 2018 FSA through ASIFlex, there is a grace period that allows you to continue incurring expenses into 2019; that period ends March 15. Participants must file any outstanding claims for reimbursement by May 1. Any remaining unused balance from the 2018 plan year will be forfeited at the end of the grace period, per IRS regulations. Learn more about FSAs including eligible expenses and how to submit a claim.

FYI

Read Across America

Spread the joy of reading! The National Education Association’s Read Across America, an annual reading awareness and celebration program, takes place on March 1—Dr. Seuss’s birthday. UD will partner once again with United Way of Delaware (UWDE) at UD’s Early Learning Center for the event. Sign up to be a reader or contact UWDE to arrange a book donation.

TIAA counseling sessions

TIAA financial consultants are on-site regularly to offer one-on-one advice. In addition to regular counseling sessions held at the Perkins Student Center, TIAA will begin offering sessions at the STAR Campus beginning Monday, March 11, 2019. Register for the session and location most convenient for you. No matter where you are in life—just getting started or planning for retirement—a session with a TIAA financial consultant can help you create a plan for your goals.

Telehealth

Did you know telemedicine is available to faculty and staff covered under the Highmark and Aetna non-Medicare health plans? Physician consultations are performed via telephone or online for non-emergency medical issues, such as coughs, sinus infections, sore throats, fevers, flu, colds, skin rashes and headaches. Telemedicine should be used when your primary care doctor’s office is closed, when you are unable to get an appointment with your doctor immediately or when you are traveling and away from home. For more information, visit Highmark (Amwell and Doctor on Demand) or Aetna (Teledoc).

State Employee Pension Plan pre-retirement workshops

The State of Delaware will be offering pre-retirement workshops this spring at various locations throughout the state. Learn more.

Employee and Labor Relations policy updates

The Disability and Grievance policies have been updated. Under the new Disability Policy, employees must be in an active status and have completed one full year of service in order to receive salary continuation during the waiting period for long-term disability. Under the revised Exempt and Non-Exempt Grievance Procedures, employees can no longer grieve terminations.
