Quickly fill cells in Excel with common data patterns (for example 1...100 or Jan...Dec).
This feature is called Auto Fill and isn't just for numeric information.
Excel can create some predefined lists for you. For example, days of the week, months of the year, 1st qtr. 2nd qtr. etc. You can even create your own custom lists. To learn how to do this use Excel's Help and search for Data Fill. Or, attend our Excel 2007: tips and tricks class.
When you do a mail merge from Excel to Word, do you lose the numeric formats from your Excel workbook?
To retain preformatted numbers from Excel worksheets (currency, percentages, dates, zip codes with initial zeros) when using Merge in MS Word, you have three options.
To see all three options go to Microsoft's Answer Box for this solution.
Or, sign up for our "Hands-on with Word 2007: Mail Merge" session.
