WILMINGTON-
4TH STREET MARKET

This market was where the Latimers or their servants would come to purchase fresh food. The market was opened by Mrs. Latimer’s grandfather, William Shipley, in 1736. The Latimer’s neighbor, Mrs. Bowles, was a huckster in the market, a sales person. The market was a place to eat and shop and socialize. The 4th street market was open on Saturdays, and held spring festivals.
