UD Chinese faculty lunch gathering took place at King Buffet Chinese Restaurant on May 24th, 2007. Nineteen (19) faculty members, plus Ming Xu and Ping Xu, participated in the event. Faculty members in attendance were (in order of their arrival and registration):

 

Wang Lianping (ME), Wang Liyun (ME), Zhang Shangyou (Math), Li Xiaoming (ECE), Li Wenbo (Math), Sun Jianqiao (ME), Liao Li (CIS), Yu Jingyi (CIS), Ji Yi (Physics), Qiang Xiao (Physics), Chen Fang Fang (Psychology), Cao Jinwei (ACCT & MIS), Deng Xinyan (ME), Chengshun Fang (Health Nutrition), Yan Xiaohai (CMES), Xiang Qing (Math), Harry Jiannan Wang (Accouting and MIS), Fang Er (Business Administration) and Wang Siyuan (Economics).

 

Ming Xu and Ping Xu brothers also attended the event.

 

The group had a very informative and fruitful discussion. Each faculty member introduced himself/herself and shared his/her reasearch interests/projects

 

Faculty members agreed that we should set up a web site with links to each faculty member's web page.

 

Dr. Yan Xiaohai encouarged other faculty members to get involved in projects/cooperations from China. It has been a mutually beneficial experience for him over the past few years.

 

Dr. Yan Xiaohai also suggested that Chinese faculty mebers ought to be more involved in the University's different groups and activities, such as University Senate.

 

Ming Xu and some other faculty members added to that. Ming briefly described the Chinese Students and Scholars Association's function and its involvement at UD. He asked for faculty members' assistance in this group.

 

Faculty members consented that Chinese Faculty should unite closely and assist one another when necessary.

 

Dr. Li Wenbo suggested and others concurred that we should meet once a month on campus (for quick lunch) or within walking distance to campus. Whoever is available may attend. By the way, Dr. Li Wenbo is an excellent speed ice-skater and skier.

 

Dr. Harry (Jiannan) Wang volunteered to take responsibility for putting together the website. Ping Xu will help gather faculty members' brief information for that purpose.

Ping Xu suggested that general gathering for all Chinese Faculty could be 2 or 3 times a year. He will be happy to coordinate such general gatherings.
