Hayden is currently a PhD student at the University of Delaware studying the impact of microplastic marine debris on larval blue crab survival and recruitment. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin Madison in 2018 with degrees in zoology and conservation biology before moving out east to pursue a career in marine bioscience. Hayden enjoys cooking, gardening, and making music in his free time, and plans on continuing his studies to pursue a career in academia.
Stephanie joined Matt Oliver's Ocean Exploration, Remote Sensing, and Biogeography Lab at UD in Fall 2019, and is currently working on creating a global ocean biodiversity model from satellite-derived measurements of physical ocean properties and in-situ sampling data. The index will later be used to analyze how marine biodiversity differs in Marine Protected Areas and Exclusive Economic Zones. Stephanie graduated from Wittenberg University in 2012 with a BS in Biology and a minor in Marine Science, and worked in Case Western Reserve University as a microbiology research assistant/lab manager before moving on to the University of Delaware.
Alan Mason is a PhD student in the Physical Ocean Science and Engineering Program in the School of Marine Science and Policy. Originally from Olathe, KS, Alan came to the University of Delaware after earning dual degrees in Earth Sciences and Music Education from The Ohio State University. Alan is studying under the advisement of Dr. Tobias Kukulka and researching estuarine circulation and microplastic movement in the Delaware Bay.
Rachel is currently a master's student in the School of Marine Science and Policy at the University of Delaware. In Dr. Andrew Wozniak's lab she studies sulfurization and its impact on carbon sequestration in salt marshes. She earned a B.S. in chemistry and a minor in Italian from the University of Delaware in 2017 and worked in a couple of industry jobs in between. Likes: ultimate frisbee, traveling, pasta. Dislikes: COVID-19, jello, sloths.
I am currently an oceanography masters student in the School of Marine Science and Policy at University of Delaware. I am currently in Matt Oliver's lab studying Adelie and Gentoo penguin foraging ecology in the Western Antarctic Peninsula near Palmer Station. I grew up in Indiana and received my BS in Marine Science and Biology from University of Miami in 2019.
