Working at UD News and Information

Dec. 21, 2021

With appreciation

As another very challenging year draws to a close, I would like to express my gratitude to each of you for everything you do to make UD a great place to work. Your dedication, collaboration and perseverance enabled us to overcome incredible challenges and provide our students with a safe return to campus. The Blue Hen pride and spirit can be seen every day in everything you do. While there is difficulty, uncertainty and frustration in times like these, there is also deep learning, greater understanding and hope. I wish you a safe and joyous holiday season with family and friends and a very happy 2022!

Holiday schedule

The University’s holiday break begins for most faculty and staff on Friday, Dec. 24. Offices will reopen on Monday, Jan. 3, when Winter Session begins. Learn more about adjusted hours for campus operations.

Vaccinations, boosters and more

The Executive Order from the federal government requiring COVID-19 vaccine for all UD employees has halted as decisions play out in the federal court. All coronavirus health and safety protocols, including weekly testing for those who are not vaccinated, remain in place.

The University still strongly encourages all faculty and staff to get the COVID-19 vaccination, as well as the booster. With the emergency of the new Omicron variant and the continuing spread of the Delta variant, it is critical that everyone take steps to ensure not only their own health but also the health and safety of the greater community. If you have not yet been vaccinated, there are many opportunities throughout the state. If you have been vaccinated but have not submitted your documentation yet, you must upload your immunization record to the UD Health Portal. If you have gotten your booster, that information also should be updated in the portal. More information is available at the Working at UD site.

UD is requiring all eligible students without an existing COVID-19 vaccine exemption to be vaccinated with a booster shot by Jan. 24, 2022, to be fully protected before the start of the spring semester. Details of this requirement are posted online.

If you currently give through payroll deduction, your gift automatically renews annually on the date your initial gift went into effect.
