Online Activities
The Multilit Web site links to the
download sites
where you can download either Paint Shop Pro for Windows or Graphic
Converter for the Macintosh. The following movies on the Multilit CD
provide assistance in areas where some students have needed extra help;
to watch one or more of these movies, open the file index.htm on the Multilit
CD, go to chapter 34, and follow these instructions:
- The exercises in this chapter use either Paint Shop Pro for Windows,
or Graphic Converter for the Macintosh. To see how to install these
programs, watch either the movie entitled "Installing Paint Shop Pro
(Windows)" or "Installing Graphic Converter (Macintosh)."
- A basic skill important to all multimedia developers is the ability to
capture an image, or part of an image, and get it into the window of Paint
Shop Pro (Windows) or Graphic Converter (Macintosh). To learn how to do
that, watch either the movie entitled "Capturing Images with Paint Shop
Pro (Windows)" or "Capturing Images with Graphic Converter (Macintosh)."
- Images may be the wrong size for placement on a multimedia screen or
Web page. To learn how to resize an image, watch either the movie entitled
"Resizing Images with Paint Shop Pro (Windows)" or "Resizing Images with
Graphic Converter (Macintosh)."
- Both Paint Shop Pro and Graphic Converter have a wide range of image
special effects. You can sharpen or soften an image, for example, or
emboss, chisel, weave, or bevel it. To learn how to apply special effects
to an image, watch either the movie entitled "Image Special Effects with
Paint Shop Pro (Windows)" or "Image Special Effects with Graphic Converter
(Macintosh)."
Assignment
There is no specific assignment required in this unit, which has been
provided for students who may need to capture, convert, or resize images
onscreen. If you have such a need and you want more practice, complete the
exercises at the end of chapter 34. These exercises are optional, and you do
not need to hand them in unless your instructor has told you specifically to
do so.
