About Us
It is in this environment of collegiality, rich with resources, that the concept of a network was developed which would bring people together in new and powerful ways.
Who: We are members of the University of Delaware Community—employees, spouses, partners and families.
What: Our mission is to connect, support and inform spouses and partners of UD hires through personal outreach and a web-facilitated network. In so doing, we hope to engender a greater sense of community among the families of UD employees and with the community at large.
Our Newcomer Outreach Program connects the spouses and partners of new UD hires to members of the UD community, to provide support for them during the transition to the community and to supply the information they seek in creating a rich and rewarding life here. We host events throughout the year which offer another way community members new and old can network with each other face-to-face.
Where: Delaware is at the center of the midAtlantic region. The Newark, Delaware, area borders on Maryland, Pennsylvania and New Jersey. It is close to major metropolitan and rural areas. The University of Delaware enjoys the most collegial atmosphere most of us have ever experienced at an academic institution. Art, music, theater, sports, continuing education, ‘The Epicenter of American Politics’—the University itself is a great place to be and an amazing resource.
When: NOW! We have been providing outreach to newcomers since the fall of 2009, and our website was just launched the fall of 2010. We continue to reach out to newcomer spouses and partners, host events for members and newcomers every semester, and update our website on a regular basis.
