Santa Clara's Posner to speak at Blue Hen Leadership Program kickoff

11:16 a.m., Sept. 15, 2015--The University of Delaware’s tiered student leadership certification program, the Blue Hen Leadership Program (BHLP), will host co-author of The Leadership Challenge, Barry Posner, as a featured speaker during the fall kickoff scheduled for 7 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 24, in the Trabant University Center Theatre.

All members of the University community are welcomed and encouraged to attend.

University of Delaware graduates planning to attend Alumni Weekend are encouraged to register for the annual Blue Hen 5K walk and run, which will be held Sunday morning, June 5.

The 20th annual June Lecture Series at the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at UD in Wilmington will be held June 6-9. Titled 'June a la Carte,' this year's program focuses on great political documents, feminism, world politics and a Newark cuisine sampler.

Posner is a professor of leadership at the Leavey School of Business at Santa Clara University in the heart of California’s Silicon Valley, where he served for 12 years as dean of the school. 

The Leadership Challenge by Posner and James Kouzes has been named one of the top 100 business books of all time, and its principles serve as the foundation for BHLP's Tier 1 lessons. 

Posner's presentation, described as engaging and pragmatic, will be based on his new work in progress with Kouzes, which is tentatively titled No One is a Zero.

BHLP’s kickoff at the start of each semester introduces students to the many tiers of leadership they can develop through participation in the program. Registration for Tier 1, The Emerging Leader, is open through Sept. 30 at the BHLP website.
