Haven to host presentation by Pennsylvania legislator Brian Sims

1:24 p.m., Oct. 19, 2015--Haven, the University of Delaware's LGBTQ registered student organization, will host a presentation by Brian Sims, a Democratic member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives and the first openly gay elected state legislator in that state’s history, at 6 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 22, in the Trabant University Center Theatre. 

Sims is also the only openly gay captain of a college football team in NCAA history after playing for Bloomsburg University during his undergraduate years.

University of Delaware graduates planning to attend Alumni Weekend are encouraged to register for the annual Blue Hen 5K walk and run, which will be held Sunday morning, June 5.

From his perspective as a public official and the holder of a law degree, he will be doing a talk on what the political climate is like post-marriage equality and about the work that still needs to be done. 

This talk will be followed by a catered reception from 8-9 p.m. in the Trabant Lounge.
