UD's Courtright receives Distinguished Research Fellow Award
9:34 a.m., Oct. 5, 2015--John Courtright, professor of communication at the University of Delaware, has received the 2015 Distinguished Research Fellow Award from the Eastern Communication Association (ECA) for his outstanding contributions to communication research.
Courtright, who joined the UD faculty in 1986, is a longtime ECA member and served as its president in 2005. The association is a professional organization of scholars, teachers and students of communication studies and is the oldest professional communication association in the United States.

At UD, Courtright has served in many leadership positions including director of the University Honors Program, Office of Undergraduate Studies and Associate in Arts Program, as well as chair of the Department of Communication, and has published widely. His most recent book, Observing and Analyzing Communication Behavior, was published last year by Peter Lang Publishers.
Since 2013, he has been the editor of Human Communication Research, a top-ranked communication studies journal published quarterly by the International Communication Association.
Courtright earned his bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees from the University of Iowa.
