Faith-rock band MercyMe to perform at UD's Bob Carpenter Center
8:42 a.m., March 4, 2016--The Grammy-nominated faith-rock band MercyMe will be returning to the University of Delaware’s Bob Carpenter Center for a performance at 7 p.m., Saturday, April 16.
The show will open with bands Citizen Way and Zealand Worship.

The five-member group has had seven singles reach the No. 1 spot on Billboard's Christian songs chart, including In the Blink of an Eye and Bring the Rain.
Its latest albums are titled Welcome to the New and MercyMe, It's Christmas!
MercyMe has landed 11 No. 1 singles on the Billboard hot Christian songs chart and has received multiple Dove Awards, the faith and gospel music equivalent of the Grammy Awards, and numerous Grammy nominations.
MercyMe made history in 2014 as the song I Can Only Imagine surpassed 2 million digital downloads, making it the first song in Christian music to go platinum and double platinum in the digital domain.
In 2009, Billboard named MercyMe's Word Of God Speak the No. 1 song of the decade and the group the No. 1 artist of the decade in both the Christian songs and Christian AC songs categories.
The group’s success has continued with the recent single Greater, which held the No. 1 spot at Christian radio for 16 weeks.
