Master Players Concert Series announces Verdant Soirees opener is sold out
1:58 p.m., Jan. 8, 2016--The University of Delaware’s Master Players Concert Series has announced that its Verdant Soirées opener scheduled Saturday, Jan. 9, at the Blue Ball Barn at Alapocas Run State Park, 1914 West Park Drive, in Wilmington, is sold out a day early.
The exclusive event features a tasting of six locally homebrewed beers paired with musical performances of works by Vivaldi, the tango music of Piazzolla, jazz standards, and original punk rock by local band Disaster Committee. Heavy hors d’oeuvres will be provided by the Wandering Chef Food Cart.

The next Verdant Soirées event, titled “Musical Duelists: The Bow and Sword,” will take place from 5-7 p.m., Saturday, March 5, at the same location. Those who attend will find out what swordplay, violins and Chinese erhu have in common.
The Master Players season continues on Sunday, Feb. 14, with the first installment in the new Great Bands of the World series featuring the world-renowned Cory Band from Wales. The Valentine’s Day concert will present a Star Wars program, including a suite from the classic John Williams score as well as other space-themed works.
