8:39 a.m., April 13, 2015--The University of Delaware Chamber Orchestra, under the direction of James Allen Anderson, will present The River at 8 p.m., Friday, April 17, in the Gore Recital Hall of the Roselle Center for the Arts.
The lecture-recital program will begin with a panel discussion examining the political and ecological atmosphere of the 1930s that led to the creation of the documentary film The River, directed by Pare Lorentz, and how the film score by Virgil Thomson supported the efforts of the Works Progress Administration (WPA).
