Ohio State's Wenk to speak on 'Calming the Neuroinferno with Diet and Drugs'

12:47 p.m., April 3, 2015--The University of Delaware Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences colloquium series will continue with a presentation by Gary L. Wenk of Ohio State University at 4 p.m., Wednesday, April 15, in 114 Gore Hall.

Wenk, professor of psychology and neuroscience, will speak on the topic "Calming the Neuroinferno with Diet and Drugs."

Wenk is a leading authority on the consequences of chronic brain inflammation and Alzheimer’s disease and his research is focused upon the investigation of drugs that can slow the progression of Alzheimer's disease and rescue the brain from the consequences of normal and pathological aging.

He has spoken widely about his work, including in media interviews with National Public Radio, CBS News and CNN.

Wenk was elected in 2008 to the rank of fellow by the American Association for the Advancement of Science for distinguished contributions in the field of neuropharmacology, neurodegenerative diseases and neuroinflammatory processes. 

The spring colloquium series will conclude May 13 with a presentation by Jaclyn Schwarz, assistant professor of psychological and brain sciences at UD, who will speak on the topic “Impact of Early-Life Immune Activation on Later-Life Brain and Behavior.”
