Gary Owen headliner in CPAB's annual Homecoming Comedy Show

9:41 a.m., Sept. 10, 2013--Comedian and actor Gary Owen will be the headliner in the University of Delaware Cultural Programming Advisory Board’s annual Homecoming Comedy Show, to be held Saturday evening, Oct. 12, in Mitchell Hall.

The show also will feature TuRae and Lawrence Killebrew.

June 5: Blue Hen 5K

University of Delaware graduates planning to attend Alumni Weekend are encouraged to register for the annual Blue Hen 5K walk and run, which will be held Sunday morning, June 5.

June 6-9: Food and culture series

The 20th annual June Lecture Series at the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at UD in Wilmington will be held June 6-9. Titled 'June a la Carte,' this year's program focuses on great political documents, feminism, world politics and a Newark cuisine sampler.

Show time is 7 p.m. and the doors will open at 6.

Tickets will go on sale Sept. 16 to the UD community and Sept. 23 to the general public.

Tickets for UD students cost $8 in advance and $12 at the door, with a limit of two tickets per UD ID.

Tickets for the general public are $20 in advance and $25 at the door.

Owen, seen in the blockbuster film Think Like a Man, has been entertaining for more than a decade following a stint in the U.S. Navy, where he served in the prestigious Presidential Honor Guard.

In addition to stand-up comedy, he has appeared on Tyler Perry’s House of Payne and in films such as Little Man with the Wayans brothers and Daddy Day Care with Eddie Murphy.

TuRae started his comedy career while attending Temple University in Philadelphia, winning an open microphone competition at the Philadelphia Laff House. He has competed in a won a number of events, including the Def Jam Comedy Competition.

He has appeared on Comedy Central’s Live at Gotham and on The Monique Show.

Killebrew is also a product of the Philadelphia comedy scene and performed in Jamie Foxx’s Laffapalooza Comedy Festival.
