Events Stories

June 5: Blue Hen 5K

University of Delaware graduates planning to attend Alumni Weekend are encouraged to register for the annual Blue Hen 5K walk and run, which will be held Sunday morning, June 5.

June 6-9: Food and culture series

The 20th annual June Lecture Series at the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at UD in Wilmington will be held June 6-9. Titled 'June a la Carte,' this year's program focuses on great political documents, feminism, world politics and a Newark cuisine sampler.

Hansen is an American artist who developed a physical disability from his craft and recognized this limitation as an opportunity for creative growth.

As he shared during his talk at the TED2013 Conference in Long Beach, Calif., “‘Embracing the Shake,’ for me, wasn’t just about art and having art skills; it turned out to be about life and having life skills … Learning to be creative, within the confines of our limitations, is the best hope we have to transform ourselves and collectively transform our world.”

Hansen is renowned for his uncommon methods, which include original portraits and replicas of classic masterpieces created using items such as cardboard coffee cups and fresh produce.

An IFC representative said the organization is confident that Hansen’s message will resonate with individuals from all walks of life and invites all students, faculty, staff, alumni and friends to attend.
